Crickets in the night….

Creek…creek…creek…creek….

Who is at fault? The owners and their representative David Stern?

Hmmm, how to get more cash...

Or perhaps the players led by the formative trio of KG, P.Pierce and K.Bryant.

Hey Kobe, we make millions, but we spend millions to! right kg?

As a fan, I’m beginning to side with the owners, which is something I never thought I’d do.  All along I thought they were being a bit greedy wanting more cash when they don’t even play the game.  But one doesn’t even need a much deeper view into the entire operations to see that the business model for the entire league is a bit flawed.  Crappy players can get huge  contracts (Mike Dunleavey, the bane of my love of the Warriors) and decimate any chance of signing good players.

Ah, wouldn’t volatile contracts, contracts based on performance and team successes be the fan’s choice for contracts.  I don’t give a crap how much a basketball player receives, but if that player is on my team and sucks and is making a crap load of money, I’m pissed.  I have to side with the owners on that one.  Although I don’t think that a volatile contract would ever be considered by the players because, let’s face it, players want to get paid and some of them afterwards wouldn’t mind being lazy.  Proof is in the pudding on that fact, just look at the increase in performance whenever a player is in a contract year, it usually spikes.

I certainly am not claiming to have all answers, but as of right now, I am leaning towards the owner’s corner on most of the issues of this contract stalemate.
